About
Lee Ryan was born June 17, 1983 in Rainham Kent. His parents separated when he was 5 years old and at this certain age, it was found that he has dyslexia.
Lee attended a performing arts school prior joining one of UK's most successful boy groups, Blue. He was only 17 when he became one of its members.
In 2004, Blue became one of the highest-selling pop acts across the universe with numerous hit albums and singles released and winning awards such as 2002's BRIT Awards' Best Newcomer, 2002's Smash Hits Awards' Best Single, Best Newcomer and Best Pop Act. MTV Japan voted One Love video as Best Pop Video whilst MTV Asia cited them as Best cited them as Best International Group. Despite of the group's commercial success, Lee initiated to leave the band in 2005 and pursue a solo career.
On July 18, 2005, Lee released his first single Army of Lovers in UK that peaked at #3 in the UK Singles Chart and hit #1 in Italy.
The following month, he released his self-titled debut album which reached #6 in the UK Album Chart and #3 in Italy, here it remained in the Top 10 for 5 consecutive weeks.
In October, his second solo single Turn Your Car Around was released, peaking at #12. January of 2006, he released his third and final single When I Think Of You in the UK which hit the chart at #15 followed by two more singles, Real Love (featured in the film Ice Age 2: The Meltdown) and How Do I (released on his website).
Aside from making albums, Lee also had a passion for film and screen-writing. One that he directed was Blue's Breathe Easy video together with co-director, Cameron Casey. He developed the skill by finishing a Film Director's course at the Tisch School of the Arts in New York. Now, he has his own production company.
In the late 2005, Dolce & Gabbana took Lee as their UK model for their new line of clothing.
Currently, Lee is planning to make a second album but this time under his old Blue label, EMI. This unnamed album may features voices of Elton John, John O'Meara and his ex-Blue bandmate Simon Webbe on three of its tracks.
