About
LeToya was born on March 11, 1981 in Houston Texas. She was once became a choir singer for Brentwood Baptist Church at a very young age and started performing in plays during her primary grade. She got acquainted with Beyoncé Knowles in an awkward situation when the latter happened to sat on her assigned seat during a class and wanted to be removed, which later turned out to be her future groupmate. Later on, Knowles and Luckett became bestfriends and Destiny's Child was formed together with Kelly Rowland and Latavia Roberson.
Her affiliation with the group has earned her two Grammy Awards and several winnings. But despite of their overflowing commercial success, Destiny's Child's time line is limited.
In 1999, LeToya and Latavia Roberson has found themselves leaving the group after the release of their The Writing's On The Wall album.
After leaving the group, LeToya and Latavia started another girl group named Anjel but it never lasted that long and eventually dissolved before a record ever came out.
After the Anjel project fell through, LeToya joined Noontime (a management/production based in Atlanta) where she recorded a five-song demo that eventually led her to signing Capitol Records in 2003.
This same year when she started to step out in the music scene as a solo artist. Her first promotional single under the label was You Got What I Need which was released in 2004 followed by All Eyes On Me the year after. The same year when she appeared on the Coach Carter soundtrack carrying her song What Love Can Do.
Few months later, numerous LeToya CDs and mixtapes had appeared online and even played on local radio stations in both Europe and USA, succeeded by What It Do! mixtape by the end year.
In July 2006, LeToya's self-titled debut album was finally released. It debuted at number one on both US Billboard 200 and Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Charts. In December 2006, the album had been certified platinum. Singles off the album includes All Eyes On Me, Torn, She Don't and Obvious.
All throughout 2007, LeToya is busy writing and recording for her sophomore album called Lady Love, which is expected to come out this November or December. In this album she collaborated with her longtime writing-producing partner Teddy Bishop along with Walter Milsap, Bryan Michael Cox, Dr. Dre, Rodney Jerkins and Babyface.
