About
Early Life
Born Eric San on 1974 in Vancouver, Canada, he records under the stage name Kid Koala. During his elementary at McGill University he attracted attention for his unique style of turntablism using music samples from Charlie Brown television specials. Other music samples that influenced his music style includes people sneezing, reading a menu in Cantonese, and graphical sketch. During performances he is well known for his cheerful aura with good sense of humor.
Illustrator and Artist
By nature, Kid loves art too having designed all of his three album covers. Just recently he released a fully graphical comic book all illustrated by him entitled "Nufonia Must Fall". The book includes a soundtrack CD composed by him.
Albums
On 2000, Koala released his debut album with UK based recording company Ninja Tune. Through the album, he popularized a method of playing the turntable like a melodic instrument, where a long, single note is dragged under the needle at different speeds, creating different pitches. The resulting sound blended and mixed very well creating popularity.
His second album released on 2003 was entitled "Some of My Best Friends ar DJs" and the third album released on 2006 was entitled "Your Mom's Favorite DJ".
