Keshia Chante born as Keshia-Chante Harper on June 16, 1988 is a Canadian R&B/Pop singer. She has released two albums, and has won two Juno awards (Grammy equivelent). She cites Tupac Shakur as her ultimate idol and Beyonce & Christina Aguilera as musical inspirations. She currently resides in New York, New York and Brampton, Ontario.

About
Chante was born in Ottawa, Ontario, to a Trinidadian father and a Puerto Rican/Portuguese mother. She attended St. Peter Catholic High School in Orleans, Ontario before moving to Brampton, Ontario, where she attended Fletcher's Meadow Secondary School; she later shot her music video "Been Gone" in Fletcher's as her thank you to the school and students.
Her first single "Shook (The Answer)" appeared in early 2003. The song broke into the Top 10 on Canadian music charts and won a Canadian Urban Music Awards for "Best Pop/R&B Single".
For the follow-up, "Unpredictable," she released her first video, which hit number one on YTV's Hit List and then top ten on Much Music. In November 2003, the CD sales of "Unpredictable" went gold by selling 50,000 copies. In 2003, she won the Canadian Radio Music Award for "Best New Solo Artist".
In early May of 2004 in music, Chante's third single, "Bad Boy", was released. It was also successful, breaking the Top Ten. The video was the first of Chante's on camera chemistry with director Little X, by being the #1 video on MuchMusic and getting heavy rotation on BET, as well as being the first Canadian female to have the "New Joint of the Day" on BET'S 106 and Park. ("Does He Love Me?" and "Been Gone" also went #1, both being Little X directed.) Her self-titled debut album "Keshia Chanté " was released June 22, 2004 and went officially gold in December 2004. It contained her previous singles, as well her fourth "Does He Love Me?" featuring Foxy Brown and fifth "Let The Music Take You". In October of 2004, at the Canadian Urban Music Awards Chante swept her four nominations, winning awards for "Best New Artist", "Video of the Year" (for Bad Boy), the "Fans' Choice Award" and "Rising Star" award. The month after that, she conducted an interview for BET's Rated Next, which was her first significant appearance on the American media. For Christmas in 2004, she released a cover version of Wham's song "Last Christmas" as well as her sixth single for select radio, "Come Fly with Me"
On January 10, 2005, Chante performed at the Canada for Asia benefit concert for Humanitarian response to the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake tsunami relief after the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake. Her buzz single "Ring The Alarm" was produced by Philadelphia's Matrax Productions and was used to not only stir up anticipation for her sophomore effort album "2U" but was also used for WarChild's Keep The Beat charity campaign to raise money for children living in places of destruction. Later, She was nominated for two awards at the 2005 Juno Awards in the categories of "Best New Artist" and "R&B/Soul Recording of the Year" and took home "R&B/Soul Recording of the Year"
In early 2006, Chante was signed to Sony/Epic in the US and started working on her sophomore album which is scheduled to be released in the U.S later this year.
Her sophomore album was released on December 5th, 2006 in her native Canada, also May 23 2007 in Japan. The first single, "Been Gone", produced by Philadelphia's Matrax Productions, was released in July. On August 24, Keshia shot her video for her 1st single "Been Gone". Her second single, "2U, was released in early November. 2U's video was shot on October 22nd, and was released on Yahoo Music Canada on November 16th. Her 3rd single "Fallen" featuring Freeway is impacting radio now.
In late 2006, Chante's label-mate Bow Wow asked her to make a cameo appearnace in his video, "Shortie Like Mine" featuring Chante's rumoured boyfriend Chris Brown. In the video Chris Brown searches for Keshia Chante on his laptop. They send messages back and forth throughout the video.
