About

Kelly Brianne Clarkson was born in Burleson, Texas on April 24, 1982. Kelly originally aspired to be a marine biologist. She was encouraged to join the school choir after a music teacher heard her singing in the corridor and then her dreams changed. She started starring in school plays and continued on with her involvement in choir.

After high school, Kelly started working on her voice and made several demos. She went to Hollywood to make her name; she appeared as an extra on an episode of Sabrina, the Teenage Witch but no other opportunities materialized so she went back to Burleson.

Upon retuning to her hometown, Kelly worked at a movie theather. promoted Red Bull energy drinks, and worked a cocktail waitress at a comedy club. She almost gave up on her dream of a musical career but her bestfriend, Jessica, convinced her to try out for American Idol and she did and landed the No.1 on the said show.

Aside from the show's prize of one million dollars and a recording contract with RCA, Kelly secured a deal with Creative Artists Agency and several bookings, including the national American Idol tour and a performance of the national anthem at the September 11 commemoration at Washington, D.C.'s Lincoln Memorial.
