About
Keith Lionel Urban was born on October 26, 1967 in Whangarei, North Island. Two years after he was born his family moved to Australia. By the age of seven years old he was able to play the guitar very well and started playing country music. Urban started winning country music talent shows. His blend of rock and country music became Urban's signature.
In 1988, Urban formed a three-piece band and led to solid success in Australia. Charting the country singles, Urban moved to Nashville. There he formed another band called The Ranch. The triad was the talk of the town. Some artists noticed the originality of the band. When the band broke up Urban worked with the Dixie Chicks.
In 2000, he released his debut album, Keith Urban. The single "But for the Grace of God" climbed on the top of the Hot Country Tracks. In 2001, he toured with Brooks & Dunn's Neon Circus. Later that year he received the CMA Horizon award. In 2002, his second album, Golden Road. The first single from the album, "Somebody Like You" stayed at #1 on the Hot Country Tracks for six weeks. "You'll Think of Me" was also #1. He also won a Grammy for best male country vocal.
On June 25, 2006, he tied the knot with actress, Nicole Kidman. In October, he was admitted to a rehab for alcohol addiction. In November, the album, Love, Pain & the Whole Crazy Thing, was released. For the third time he won the CMA male vocalist trophy.
