Keith Richards is an internationally recognized iconic figure in contemporary culture and popular music as a singer, guitar player, songwriter, film actor, and public figure and one of the founding member of one of the most popular band worldwide, Rolling Stones. The band is still existing up to now with its original members, Keith and Mick. Keith has also released solo albums like, Main Offender.

Keith Richards was born on December 18, 1943 in Datford, Kent, England to "Bert Richards", a factory worker and "Doris Dupress" who introduced Keith to music of jazz, and also encouraged his singing performances with a choir in Westminster Abbey. He met Mick Jagger when he was a primary school. But when they went into secondary schools they lost touch.
When he was 15, his mother bought him his first guitar, and from that moment, it became the most important thing in his life. In 1960, Keith and Mick again accidentally met on a train and talked about starting up a band. From 1960-1962 The Rolling Stones were formed. It comprimised on "Mick Jagger" on lead vocal and harmonica "Keith Richards" on guitar, "Bill Wyman" on bass, "Charlie Watts" on drums and "Brian Jones" on guitar". The group began playing gigs around London.
Their single, "Satisfaction" was released in 1965 and became the greatest hit and their calling card on each and every show. During the 1970s Rolling Stones remained the biggest band in the world. They released hit albums like, Angie in 1973, [[It's Only Rock and Roll", Hot Stuff in 1976 and [Respectable]] in 1978 among others. The Rolling Stones have released 55 albums of original work and compilations, and sold over 200 million records word-wide during their career spanning over 45 years.

After having created tens of albums and over a hundred popular songs together, their legendary song-writing partnership was undergoing the most painful test: the bitter rivalry between two enormously talented and equally ambitious superstars.
Mick decided to relased his solo album in 1985. Keith solo album, Talk is Cheap was released in 1988 which chartered at #24 on The Billboard 200 Chart. In 1989 Mick and Keith got together in Barbados and made up their differences and started to write tunes for the next album of Rolling Stones entitled Steel Wheels. Bill left the group in 1992.
Keith's next solo album, Main Offender was relased in 1992. In 1993, Rolling Stones were regrouped. The Rolling Stones have released 55 albums of original work and compilations, and sold over 200 million records word-wide during their career spanning over 45 years. Since 1962, during the career spanning over 45 years, Keith Richards has been the lead guitarist and primary musical force behind The Rolling Stones, as well as songwriter for the band.
In 2003, Keith was voted 10th greatest guitarist of all time by Rolling Stone Magazine, and was elected to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989, as founding member of the legendary rock band The Rolling Stones.

- Keith made a cameo appearance as Captain Teague, the father of Captain Jack Sparrow (played by Johnny Depp), in Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, released in May 2007.
- In August 2007 Richards signed a publishing deal for his autobiography, scheduled to come out in 2010.
