Katie Melua is a singer-songwriter from England who's known as Europe's biggest selling female artist for three consecutive years (2004, 2005, 2006).

Ketevan Melua was born on September 16, 1984 in Kutaisi, Georgia. Her father, a heart surgeon, caused the family to move from Tbilisi to Belfast and they ended up in England when Katie was fourteen.
While performing at the B.R.I.T. School for the Performing Arts and Technology, she caught the eye of songwriter and producer, Mike Batt. Five years later, she was signed under Dramatico Entertainment and released her debut album that same year entitled, Call Off the Search. Her first album became 6x Platinum in Britain alone while the sales worldwide reached more than three million copies.
Following the success of her debut album, Katie's sophomore effort is yet another success. Piece by Piece was released on the 26th of September, 2 years after her successful debut album. Piece by Piece has gone four-times Platinum to date and it debuted at the top spot of the UK albums chart.
Katie Melua just released her third studio album entitled, Pictures on October 1st, 2007. It was told that this will be her last album collaborating with Mike Batt.
