About

Kate Nash was born on July 6, 1982 in Dublin but was raised in North Harrow, London, England. Her father is a computer clerk while her mother is a nurse. As a young child, Kate wanted to be an actress but her path led her to singing. She started to take piano lessons when she was 8 until she was in grade 6. But this didn't stop her to pursue her passion in acting.

Kate Nash auditioned for a role at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School where she passed the first round but failed the second. Not only did she get rejected, she even fell off the stairs and broke her foot. This may seem like the worst even in her life but it became a turningpoint to become what she is today.

During her healing period, where she was unable to move, Kate Nash found comfort in writing songs. The time came when she had the courage to get herself a gig to start a new career - in music. She began singing in local bars where she sings cover songs and some of her own. Fame landed when she posted her songs in her MySpace account. Before the end of 2006, she found a manager who eventually led her to an indie label Moshi Moshi Records.

The following year, Kate Nash signed with Fiction Records where her single Foundation moved its way up to the 2nd spot in the UK Singles Charts. Through this, Kate Nash released her debut album Made of Bricks on August 6, 2007.
