About
Kate Bush (Catherine Bush) was born on July 30, 1958 in Bexleyheath, Kent, England. As a child, Bush played the past time by playing the organ at her parents' barn house. At her teens, she started writing songs. Ricky Hopper, a family friend, was impressed by her piece and arranged to record a demo for young Kate. At the age of 16 years old, Kate signed in with EMI Records. Kate started to take up dance and voice lessons, she also continued to write songs at her spare time. In 1977, Kate started to record at the studio.
The single "Wuthering Heights" topped the British charts. Bush later on released, The Kick Inside, a collection of her compositions. It sold over one million copies in U.K alone and was at #3 on the charts. Kate's sophomore album, Lionheart, peaked at #6 on the charts. In 1979, she was the only concert tour until now that played a series of shows with 17 costume changes.
In 1980, "Babooshka" was a huge hit. Later that year, she issued, Never For Ever. The album reached at #1 on the British charts. She also started to work independently from the record company. In 1982, The Dreaming reached at #3. Unfortunately, "There Goes a Tenner", didn't make in the charts. In 1985, Kate returned with "Running Up That Hill". The single reached #3 on the British charts and took a #1 position on September 1985. "Running Up That Hill" with the album Hounds Of Love gave Kate a chance to crossover to the US. In 1989, Kate brought home the Best British Female Artist award at the sixth annual BRIT Awards.
The Sensual World was released later that year. It took a spot at #2 on the British Charts. In 1993, The Red Shoes followed. Kate took a break to give a chance to motherhood. She left the music industry and went to her countryside home on Berkshire, Reading, England. After a long wait, she released her follow-up album, Aerial in 2005.
