About
Ryan Raddon, better known as Kaskade, is a 33-year old DJ who popularized such dance hits as "It's You, It's Me," "Steppin' Out," and "Everything." Known for his emotional, "big-room" mixes highly suited for dance clubs and massive parties/concerts, this DJ had humble beginnings before he started performing across the globe almost non-stop.
Born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago, Kaskade spent his teenage years listening to new wave mixes, frequenting bars such as Club Medusas, where Frankie Knuckles was resident DJ during Fridays. As the whole house music seen incarnated in the basements of Chicago, Kaskade found his interest calling for an exploration into a deeper awareness of this type of music.
In 1992, Kaskade transferred to Salt Lake City, where he funded his education to the University of Utah by taking on jobs as a DJ. He was able to own and operate a record shop named Mechanized Records, which later housed a studio and released several records that marked the start of the house music scene.
He was later signed by Om Records, which produced most of his compilations, after transferring to the Bay Area and having slipped his own mixes into Om's demos. Under the name of Kaskade, his track "What I Say" was included in Mark Grant's widely acclaimed Sound Design, Volume 2 in 2001.
After having exploded into the whole house music scene, Kaskade now tours various areas of the globe, where he is received ever more warmly by expectant party goers whether from Carfax in Johannesburg, South Africa to Summer Dance in Manila, Philippines. Critics have said that "If there's a dance culture alive and well in this world, Kaskade has likely been there, and he's likely scheduled to go there again soon."
