Karyn White is a Grammy Award-nominated American Pop/R&B singer who rose to fame via her famous hit single, "Superwoman".

About
Karyn White or "Karyn Layvonne White" in real life was born on October 14, 1965 at Los Angeles California to "Clarence White", a trumpeter and "Vivian White", a choir director. The youngest of five children, she sang in the church choir as a child. Karyn won first place in a talent and beauty contest in Culver City, California for her rendition of "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" at the age of five. She was also a cheerleader in high school. At the age of 18, Karyn composed a song entitled, "Automatic Passion" which Stephanie Mills recorded.
She was also a backing singer during her College years. She also work with other famous artist like, Commodores, Ray Parker, Shanice Wilson, Bobby Brown, Sheena Easton and Julio Iglesias. In 1986, she was the featured vocalist for "Jeff Lorber's" dance hit single "The Facts of Love." This exposure proved to be her big break.
After graduating from Howard University in 1988, she released her self-titled debut album under Warner Brothers Record. It chartered at #1 on the R&B Charts. The album reached double platinum and sold over 2 million copies. It features the hit singles, ""The Way You Love Me," which reached #1 on the US R&B Charts, "Love Saw It," "Secret Rendezvouz", "Love Saw It", a duet with Baby Face and her trademark hit single, "Superwoman" which chartered at #1 on the US Dance Charts. The album was produced by, Babyface.
Her second album, Ritual of Love was released in 1991 under Warner Brothers Records. Her first single, "Romantic" became a numbber one hit on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. It also features the hit singles, "The Way I Feel About You," which chartered at #12 on the Hot 100, "Walkin' the Dog," and "Do Unto Me which peaked at #24 on the R&B Charts."
Karyn's last album, Make Him Do Right was released in 1994. She wrote the first single, "Hungah". Her next single, "Can I Stay With You" was written by, "BabyFace" which became her final U.S. R&B Top 10 hit in early 1995. After the released, Karyn left the music entertainment industry to concentrate her family career.
