[edit] About
Justin Timberlake grew up in Millington, a small town just north of Memphis. In 1993, He was cast as part of the singing groups and starred in his first show The Mickey Mouse Club alongisde fellow graduates Christina Aguilera whom became his future tourmate, Britney Spears whom he dated years after the show ended in 1995, and perhaps most importantly, future bandmate JC Chasez. When the show ended in Justin recruited JC to be in a new all-male singing group he was forming with friend Chris Kirkpatrick. Thetrio met Joey Fatone months later and now all's set to form their boy group that many of already know as N'Sync.
Justin debuted his first single Like I Love You at the 2002 MTV Video Music Awards in August 29th. A much-hyped performance in the awards from the track produced by the Neptunes. The song was a hit and it reached the #11 spot on the Billboard Hot 100. Afterwhich, Timberlake released his debut album Justified in November 5, 2002. The album was also a success, despite selling considerably less than previous N'Sync efforts. It debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 album chart, selling 439,000 copies in its first week of release. It eventually went on to sell over 3.5 million copies in the U.S. and over 7 million copies worldwide. The album also received critical acclaim, thanks to its heavy R&B influence provided by hip-hop producers The Neptunes and Timbaland. More hit singles came off from his first solo effort, Cry Me A River and Rock Your Body both made it to the charts in a span of weeks since their release. Timberlake did not stop there as he co-headlined the Justified/Stripped Tour with Christina Aguilera in the summer of 2003. The Black Eyed Peas served as the opening act, which he also appeared on their smash hit Where Is The Love?.
During the halftime show of the Super Bowl XXXVII on February 2004, Justin performed with Janet Jackson with his hit single Rock Your Body, part of the performance was for Timberlake to tear off part of Jackson's black leather costume meant to accompany a portion of the song's lyrics, Gonna have you naked by the end of this song. Unexpectedly, the costume detached and exposing Jackson's breast. The moment shocked people from the arena as we as 140 million viewers. Timberlake apologized for the incident saying that he was sorry that anyone was offended by the wardrobe malfunction during the halftime performance of the Super Bowl... It was not intentional and is regrettable. The phrase wardrobe malfunction has since been used by the media to refer to the incident and has entered pop culture.
At the 2004 Grammy Awards, Timberlake won two Grammys for Best Pop Vocal Album for Justified and Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for Cry Me A River, eventhoug he was banned from the awards unless he and Jackson apologizes on screen at the event. Jackson declined but Timberlake attended and issued a scripted apology while accepting the first of two Grammy Awards he received that night. He had also been nominated for Album of the Year, Record of the Year for Cry Me A River, and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for Where Is The Love? with Black Eyed Peas.
Putting aside his recording career for an attempt in acting, Justin starred in a few minor acting roles including a bit part as a model in the TV-Movie Model Behavior, and a cameo opposite bandmate Lance Bass in the 2001 film On The Line. But Timberlake wasn't contented with bit parts and cameos. Soon, he was cast as a journalist in the thriller Edison Force which, infortunately did not make the big screen and was instead released directly to DVD. He also appeared in the films Alpah Dog, Black Snake Moan, Richard Kelly's Southland Tales and he will also appear as the voice of young King Arthur in the animated film Shrek The Third, slated to be released in 2007.
Justin Timberlake has opened several restaurants in the US including the hip and trendy Koi. He also started a clothing line with close friend Trace Ayala named William Rast to which Timberlake describes as A little bit of Hollywood, a little bit of Tennessee. In October of 2005, the Grammy Association awarded Timberlake for humanitarian efforts in Tennessee, alongside writer/director Craig Brewer, also a Memphis native.
Timberlake continued to record and collaborate with other artists. He again joined the Black Eyed Peas on the 2005 track My Style from their album Monkey Business, he was also featured in Nelly's song Work It, included on Nelly's 2003 remix album. Justin also collaborated with Snoop Dogg in the 2003 single Signs. He also made a cameo appearance in Nelly Furtado's latest video Promiscuous.
His upcoming sophomore album FutureSex/LoveSounds due out on September 12, 2006 produced by Timbaland, Will.I.Am and Justin himself plus guest vocal from Snoop Dogg, T.I, and Nelly Furtado. The album is fast gaining its own following and was described as all about sexiness and aiming for an adult feel. The first release SexyBack began receiving radio and Internet play on July 7, 2006. A promotional tour of Europe and Japan is set for July, with an American tour launching in August.

[edit] Trivia
- Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera each saw their latest solo albums reach the triple-platinum plateau in August -- The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) certified Timberlake's Justified and Aguilera's Stripped for U.S. shipments of 3 million copies. (September 5, 2003)
- The video for Timberlake's new song, Cry Me a River, features the 'N Sync singer videotaping a bedroom escapade with a sexy brunette and making sure another woman -who looks an awful lot like Britney Spears - sees it; but he's coy about whether this is a case of art imitating life. (December 28, 2002)
