About
Joss Stone was born on April 11, 1987 in Dover, Kent, England, and spent her teenage years in Ashill, Devon. At a young age, she spent her time listening to soul music. Her break came when she was asked to appear on Star for a Night show on BBC Television singing "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman" of Aretha Franklin.
To back her performance on the show, she immediately decided to fly out from England to audition in New York with S-Curve. After being signed by S-Curve Records, Joss Stone flew to Miami to record and work on with debut album The Soul Sessions which was released later on September 16, 2003. The album reached top 5 in the UK Top 75 albums and also made it to top 40 in the U.S. Billboard 200 Chart.
