Born as Josh Otis Turner in real life, Josh Turner was born on November 20, 1977 at Hannah, South Carolina. He was a member of a choir group when he was just teenager. He also formed a gospel quartet called Thankful Hearts. After graduating from High School, he moved to Nashville to pursue his dream to become a singer. While staying at Nashville, he also studied in Belmont University.
In 2001, Josh performed at the Grand Ole Opry, which he sang his own composition Long Black Train. He received a standing ovation in the middle of his performance. In the later part of the year, he signed a recording contract under MCA Nashville.
In 2003, he released his debut album, Long Black Train. It went into certified Platinum. The album reached number 3 on the Billboard charts. In 2006, he released his second album, Your Man. The album reached number one on the Billboard chart along with his single, "Would You Go With Me". The album went platinum. His third album Everything Is Fine was released last October 2007.
