About
Born on the 17th of May, 1970 in Worcester, Massachusetts, Jordan Knight was the newest addition to a large family raised by parents Allan (Episcopalian priest/carpenter) and Marlene (social worker). He went to school at William Monroe Trotter School in Roxbury where fellow NKOTB Donnie Wahlberg also attended. He took up piano lessons in school, and sings in his church choir as a soprano. He also took up the extremely popular style of dance at the time: breakdancing
He and his brother, Jonathan Knight, along Joey McIntyre, Donnie Wahlberg and Danny Wood, were selected by producer, Maurice Starr, to the boy group New Kids On The Block (originally called Nyuk), in 1984. The group hit it big with female teens and preteens, selling 70 million copies of their albums worldwide. The group were constant hit makers but began to suffer from a maturing audience. In 1994, after releasing their album Face The Music, their popularity waned and eventually the group disbanded in that same year.
Jordan Knight was virtually silent for 5 years before making a comeback in 1999 by releasing his first solo debut single Give It To You. It reached the number 10 spot in the Billboard Hot 100. That same year, he became a father to a son, Dante Jordan. Throughout the early 2000, Jordan Knight continued to tour and made appearances. His self-title debut album won an Aspire Music Award for Best Male Album (Pop category) and went certified gold. In 2004, he released his second album, Jordan Knight Performs New Kids On The Block: The Remix. A year later, he returned with a promising adult contemporary feel album, The Fix, followed by Love Songs, released in September 2006.
