Joni Mitchell was a Canadian musician, songwriter, and painter. She was ranked by the Rolling Stone Magazine as one of the Greatest Guitarist of all time. Her album, Blue was chosen by Time Magazine as among the All Time 100 Albums.

Joni Mitchell or Roberta Joan Anderson in real life was born on November 7, 1943 in Fort Macleod, Alberta to Bill and Myrtle Anderson. His father was a grocer while her mother was a schoolteacher. Joni was raised in North Battleford, Saskatchewan after the end of World War II. When she was 9 years old, her family moved in Saskatoon.
Joni's musical career started when she performed at small nightclubs of Toronto, Canada. In 1965, she married to a folksinger, Chuck Mitchell. While Joni was performing at The Gaslight South, he was seen by David Crosby who was impressed with her voice. He brought Joni to Los Angeles, where he introduced her and her music to his friends. Joni decided to stay in Los Angeles.
Joni's composition was included in the album of Judy Collins and reached the billboard top ten charts. Another song she composed was Chelsea Morning and I Don't Know Where I Stand was included in the album of British folk rock group, Fairport Convention.
In 1968, Joni released her first solo album, Song To A Seagull and Clouds in 1969. Joni had released more follow-up albums in the 60's until 90's. She also released some compilation albums. Joni is also an accomplished visual artist.
In 1981, Joni was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. In 1997, she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In 2002, she was appointed as a Companion of the Order of Canada. She also received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in that same year with a citation that Joni is one of the most important female recording artist of the rock era. In 2003, she was the highest-ranked woman on the list of Rolling Stone Magazine being in number 72 as the greatest guitarist of all time. In January 2007, Joni was inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame. She is also a five time Grammy awardees.
