JoJo began recording her first album, the self-titled JoJo. She has written three of the 14 songs herself, JoJo found singing in the studio to be a different challenge from singing live. Her single "Leave (Get Out)" reached No. 1 on the Billboard Top 40.

JoJo is enjoying success. Her debut album JoJo was released on June 22, 2004 under Blackground Records. The album spawned the debut hit single "Leave Get Out". Her single has been on the charts and hit #1 on the Billboard sales chart. The video for “Leave Get Out” even hit #1 on MTV’s top rated video show TRL. Another single in the album is the song "Breezy", which is a bouncy song. It is followed up by another hit song "Baby It’s You." Every single on the debut album has the potential to be a radio single. Her debut album peaked at number four on the U.S. Billboard 200 and number ten on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, selling about 107,000 copies and reaching the top 40 of the UK Top 75 Albums. The album has sold a total of almost 1.5 million copies in the U.S. This young singer has been has become a teen sensation overnight.
