[edit] About
Jimmy Eat World were formed in Mesa, Arizona in 1993 by four childhood friends, "Jim Adkins" on guitar, "Zach Lind" on drums, "Tom Linton" on vocals and "Mitch Porter" on bass. The group tinkered around with heavy punk rock sounds, performing small shows in their own native land.
The band has released several EP's and singles under Wooden Blue Records. In 1995, they signed a recording contract under Capital Records. After the contract signing, Mitch left the group and replaced by "Rich Burch". The band also joined up with "Mark Trombino", drummer of Drive Like Jehu to record their first studio album, Static Prevails.
In 1998, the band teamed up again with Mark to record their second album, Clarity with their lead single, "Lucky Denver Mint". They also released a video from their lead single. The song was also featured in the movie soundtrack of "Never Been Kissed".
The group released their single, "Singles" under Big Wheel Recreation. The group recorded their third album, Bleed American under Dreamworks and their third teamed up with Mark. The album was released in September 2001. They also released their second single, "The Middle" under the said album. Their fourth album, Futures was released in October 2004 with its lead single, "Work". Their new album will be issued on October 2007.

[edit] Trivia
- Jimmy Eat World derived their name from Tom's younger brothers, Ed and Jimmy. The 2 had a fight one day and Ed resorted to drawing a picture of his cherubic older brother eating the world with "Jimmy Eat World" pointed beneath.
