When she tore the ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) in both knees as a teenager while on stage, Jessica Sutta's dream of being a prima ballerina ended. But on the contrary, her dream of being a dancer were just beginning.

About

Jessica was born in Miami, Florida on May 15, 1982, of Irish-Japanese-Russian-Polish heritage. Jessica started dance classes at the age of three. She went to the New World School of the Arts at age fourteen to study dance. But she suffered an injury to both knees so she switched to theater studies, before finally returning to dance. She joined the Miami Heat dance team in 1999 and became captain in 2001.

In 2002 Jessica moved to Los Angeles, and as a freelance dancer appeared in music videos for Will Smith, Craig David and Gloria Estefan, among others. She came to the attention of choreographer Robin Antin who cast her under the sing and dance troupe known as The Pussycat Dolls in 2002. Subsequently, the Dolls’ recordings have sold millions worldwide and as of 2006 the group are touring Europe.

"She's sweet, always positive, and very sensitive", says Antin, "but on stage she turns it on". Tapped for The Pussycat Dolls, with her pale skin and dark hair, Sutta's persona echoes a Betty Page pin-up.

From the moment she joined The Pussycat Dolls, she says, "this is where I always wanted to be. I thought The Pussycat Dolls were genius. It's insane to be so lucky".
