Jerry Lee Lewis is an American rock and roll and country music singer, songwriter, and pianist who rose to fame via his single, "Whole Lotta Shakin’ Going On".

Jerry Lee Lewis was born on September 29, 1935 at Ferriday, Louisiana. His parents, though poor, took out a loan to buy him a piano, and within a year he had developed his mature style of playing. In his early teens he absorbed both the softer country style of Gene Autry and the more rocking music of local black clubs, along with the gospel hymns of the local Assembly of God church. At the age of 8, Jerry already know how to play piano. He had his first public appearance by sitting in with a local C&W band in a Ford dealership parking lot at the age of 14. He attended d Southwestern Bible Institute in Texas in 1950 but was expelled for misconduct, including playing rock and roll versions of hymns in church.
Jerry went to Memphis in 1956 to auditioned for Sam Phillips, Sun Records. His assistant, Jack Clement was impressed in the voice of Jerry. His first single, "Crazy Arms" was released in 1956. His next single was "Whole Lotta Shakin’ Going On" which chartered at #3 on Singles Chart. The song sold 100,000 copies in its first week alone. However after his appearance on Steve Allen's TV Show, his single sold 6 million copies worldwide. His single, "Great Balls of Fire" reached #2 in Singles Chart and sold more than 5 million copies.
In the next few years, Jerry released several studio albums like, The Greatest Live Show on Earth in 1964, The Return of Rock in 1965, and Ole Tyme Country Music in 1970 among others. Jerry's performances were dynamic. His dynamic performing style can be viewed in films, including High School Confidential in which he sang the title song from the back of a flatbed truck and the big-budget film The Girl Can't Help It. His recent album, Last Man Standing was released last 2006. Jerry performed with Little Richard in the recent 50th Gramm

- Jerry high school nickname was the “Killer,” and it stuck with him as he established a reputation as a tough, rowdy performer with a flamboyant piano style that used careening glissandos, pounding chords, and bench-toppling acrobatics.
