About

Jeremy Camp's music spins from pop to hard rock to soft ballads, which shows his diversity as an artist. He is compared to the likes of Matchbox 20 and Creed, but what sets Camp apart is his bold, unbound spiritual emotion and faith-filled message that radiate toward his listeners. Growing up in a Christian home, Camp gained most of his musical inspiration from worship music. Christian artists such as Delirious, Jars of Clay and Steven Curtis Chapman are among his influences.

Camp's musical journey has evolved into career success from garnering various awards to scoring top hits off the charts. But it wasn't all that. He likewise had his own share of hard times and heartbreaks, which deeply resound in his music and reflect his profound faith in his Creator.

Camp hailed from Lafayette, Indiana where his father is a pastor at Harvard Chapel. He later moved to California to pursue Bible college. Along with, he got involved in the music ministry on campus. Soon after he was leading worship all over Southern California. There he met Melissa, his first wife, during one of the shows he played. At 20, Melissa was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, though this did not stop him from marrying her. She died in 2001, when he was 23 and she was 21, after less than a year of marriage.

In his debut album Stay, his songwriting echoes his emotions during this broken time of his life. "Walk by Faith" and "I Still Believe" directly relate to his young wife's parting. The album can be considered a record of Jeremy's heart. It also gave him six #1 hits and became a Certified RIAA Gold in 2005.

Carried Me: The Worship Project was his next release. This won him the Outstanding Praise and Worship Album of the American Christian Music Awards in 2004. Camp's succeeding album Restored took him to a greater success by yielding "Take You Back" and "Lay Down My Pride" to #1 spots. "Take You Back" also brought him the Songwriter of the Year award (with "This Man") and Song of the Year award during the ASCAP 2006 Christian Music Awards. The song "Restored" talks about how God took him out of the dark place of his life into a new beginning. In December of 2003, he married former The Benjamin Gate frontwoman Adrienne Liesching. They now have two kids.

Besides his solo albums, Camp has four music videos: "Understand," "Walk by Faith," "Take You Back," and "Tonight." He also has released a DVD, In24, which documents his typical day on tour. Live Unplugged from Franklin, TN includes a DVD of the concert as well.

His current album, Beyond Measure, was released October 2006. "Tonight" is the first single off the album.
