Jamelia Naila Davis a beautiful R&B singer born on January 11, 1981 in Birmingham, England. At the age of 15, she was discovered by Parlophone. They saw the confidence in Jamelia and signed her after she sang her own songs in acapella. Parlophone gave her time to develop and it was three years late that she released her first single, "Thank You". In the span of 18 months her single "Money" peaked at #5 in the Top 40 Hits. In 2000, she won a Mobo Award .
Jamelia's career was put on hold since she got pregnant. Her song "Bout" was written during her pregnancy. In March 2001, her beautiful baby girl was born and raised her for the next two years. Experiencing joy and spending time with her daughter at the same time wanting to go back to the music scene since at that time there were many rising R&B artists.
In June 2003, her singles, "Bout" and "Money" became a hit. In September 2003, she released her single, "Superstar”. It became one of the biggest hits in U.K. and it peaked at #3 in the Top 50 singles and stayed on the chart for three months. “Superstar” was #1 in Australia and New Zealand. It is also a soundtrack on multiple television shows. Jamelia was nominated in the Brit Awards for Best Single and Best Female Artist. She was on the shortlist for the prestigious Mercury Music Prize, an annual award presented to the best British or Irish album.
