About

J. Lo was released in June 23, 2001 under Epic Records. The album after the song "Love Don't Cost A Thing" debuted at number one in the U.S. Billboard 200 and stayed in the top 20 for twenty six weeks. The number one single in this album, "Love Don't Cost A Thing" reached number three on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. The second single, "Play" was a bit of disappointment and this had led the team to bring in JA Rule to create remixes of the song as well as the song "I'm Real", both song secured a number 1 spot in the Billboard.

J-Lo was considered to be the first self-styled blockbuster of 2001. Essentially, this is a similar album as On The 6, only a little longer with a little less focus and not as many memorable real life expression songs.

The album provided listeners mid-range and alluringly thin vocals that remained the same from song to song, with the occasional Latin cut thrown in to vary the rhythm somewhat since both the production and Jennifer Lopez play it cool and there's not that many hooks, the album is a good blend overall.
