Inara George is a Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter raised in Topanga Canyon.

Inara George may be the daughter of the late Little Feat guitarist and songwriter Lowell George, but she is definitely making a name for herself. Being a child of a musician has given her the exposure she needed to appreciate music at an early age. Her parents’ peers include Van Dyke Parks and Jackson Browne, and she claims that as a kid, she was always around a lot of live music and art. However, she preferred to concentrate more on performing in theaters. She did plays by Shakespeare in Topanga Canyon’s Theatricum Botanicum when she was young, and afterwards took classical theater acting in Boston to further her skills in theatrical arts. She has been part of two groups in the past, one being Lode, a band she formed with her high school friends one summer. They were actually able to release an EP in 1996 entitled Legs & Arms under Geffen and also toured for two years. The other group she became part of was Merrick, with Bryony Atkinson. The indie duo may have separated ways in 2002, but not without having released two albums, a self-titled album and Hard and Fast Driving Club, and becoming a favorite on KCRW.
After being part of a group for years, Inara finally decided to go solo. In 2005, she released All Rise under the label Everloving. At present, she is a part of another indie duo, The Bird and the Bee, with producer and keyboardist Greg Kurstin. The duo released an EP entitled Again and Again and Again and Again in October 2006 and a self-titled debut album on January 2007.
Inara George also appears on the album Rock & Roll Doctor: A Tribute to Lowell George, singing ‘’Trouble’’ along with Little Feat. She is also on the original soundtrack of Grey’s Anatomy with ‘’Fools in Love,” a track that is also included in All Rise. She has toured alongside Idlewind, Rogue Wave, and Nada Surf.
