[edit] About

[edit] Coming Together

Douglas Robb, vocalist of Hoobastank said in their message boards, that the band name was taken from the middle name of a religious icon. But actually, they had remarked that it only sounded good and that the band name had no particular meaning, its just that Doug loves to joke around specially when asked about where the band got an incredibly unique name.

This ardent trio came together during a Battle of the Bands in Agoura Hills, CA in 1994. There was originally four band members that had a pleasant local career and was able to release a first album in 1998 entitled They Sure Don't Make Basketball Shorts Like They Used To. Not so long after, they attacted record label Island Records.

In 2001, the band got to release self-titled album under a major record label. Breakthrough single Crawling In The Dark sky-rocketed to the top of a number of hit charts; whereas second single Running Away surpassed what the first hit achieved, gaining higher positions in the charts. The first record Hoobastank (album) also landed top spots in the charts and ultimately gained a Platinum Certification.

[edit] A Founded Career

After the silencing of the band behind guitarist Dan Estrin's minibike accident, the band resurrected themselves with the release of second monster hit album The Reason, their single with the same title drove the fans outrageously fanatical with the song receiving massive airplay, gaining top spots in the Billboard 200, charts in the US, Canada and Australia.

The single debuted at #45 of the Billboard Charts, peaked at #2 of the Billboard Hot 100, #3 at the Billboard 200, #1 in Canada, #10 in Australia, and ultimately became topper in the World Airplay Chart. Their song "The Reason" was indeed the reason for their conquering the music scene.

Their latest album entitled Every Man For Himself is currently a certified Gold Record and is bringing to us breakout hits Inside Of You and If I Were You.

[edit] Reviews

  • "Hooba" or "The Stank" managed to be romantic but not overly mushy. They were able to give out songs inspired by love and the rhythm would definitely make you reminisce about sweet kisses, smiles and the love of your life. They are generally cool in every simple way. - Vheliefish 04:14, 1 November 2006 (PST)
