Hila Plitmann is an American classical and operatic soprano.

Hila Plitmann has been praised by the New York Times for her “brilliant top register”; the Los Angeles Times calls her “exceptionally gifted” and the Chicago Tribune has described her as “...superb, with an expressive range and communicative power.” Born in Jerusalem, her professional career began In 1998, when she premiered Pulitzer Prize winner David Del Tredici's The Spider and the Fly with The New York Philharmonic under the baton of Maestro Kurt Masur.

She has performed as a featured soloist with the New York Philharmonic, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Chicago Symphony, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, the Minnesota Orchestra, the Israel Philharmonic, the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, the New Israeli Opera and numerous other orchestras and ensembles in the U.S. and abroad. Recent performances include the world premiere of Pulitzer Prize winning composer David Del Tredici’s Paul Revere’s Ride with the Atlanta Symphony under Robert Spano; the world premiere of Esa Pekka Salonen’s Wing on Wing with The Los Angeles Philharmonic at Disney Hall; the world premiere of Mr. Tambourine Man by Oscar and Pulitzer Prize winning composer John Corigliano, with The Minnesota Orchestra, also under Robert Spano; her theatrical acting debut in the role of Sharon in the Fountain Theater’s production of MASTER CLASS by Terrence Mcnally; and the world premiere of Eric Whitacre’s Opera Electronica Paradise Lost;

Ms. Plitmann has appeared on a number of albums, beginning with David Del Tredici’s virtuosic song cycle Ms. Inez Sez, under the CRI label, which has received high critical acclaim; The enchanting song cycle Lament for the Death of a Bullfighter, also by Del Tredici, with the composer at the piano, under the Music & Arts label; and two additional recordings to be released in 2006: David Del Tredici’s Paul Revere’s Ride with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Robert Spano conducting, under the Telarc label; and Bob Beaser’s Emily Dickinson Songs with the American Academy in Rome label. Her voice can now also be heard featured on the soundtrack to the Hollywood blockbuster The DaVinci Code.

Upcoming performances include a premiere of a new song cycle written for her by Pulitzer prize winning composer Aaron Jay Kernis; the NAXOS world premiere recording of John Corigliano’s Mr. Tambourine Man with the Buffalo Symphony, JoAnn Falletta, conductor; and David Del Tredici’s Final Alice with the National Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Leonard Slatkin.

She received her Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees with high honors from The juilliard School of Music. She has a Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do.
