This section will provide information on how to create new page by internal linking a word, through word search, through the "create page" template, and linking to an external webpage. Wikimusicguide is being used as a reference site for this article.

Steps

To Create Page Through Internal Linking

1. To create a page for a particular keyword one must edit the existing page.

2. To edit the whole page, click on the edit button on the wiki menu bar, while to edit a portion of a page, click on the edit link just beside the section.

3. Higlight the keyword that you want to create a page.

4. Click on the internal link button, the third icon after bold and italicize icon. Represented by an underlined Ab symbol.

5. Click save. The higlighted word becomes red (note: red means the page doesn't exist).

6. Click on that word in red, then do the necessary edits and save. Hence, a page is created through internal linking.

To Create Page through Word Search

1. In the search box on the leftside of the wikisite, there is a search box.

2. In the search box, type in the word you want your page to be named. In this example we typed in the word "boo".

3. Click search.

4. If the page doesn't exist, this comes out.

5. Click on the "create this page" (in red).

6. Do the necessary edits and put in the necessary data.

7. Click the save button.

To Create Page through the Create Page Button (Templates)

1. Click on the "Create Page" button on the left part of the wikisite.

2. You will be given option what to create. Whether an Artise Page, Album Page, or Song Page.

3. Type in the word in the assigned box to where your word belongs whether it is an artist, album or song pages.

4. Click Create Page.

5. You will be given a page template for you to work on, hit save.

  • It will help if you read the instructions in MediaWiki before proceeding to a new project.
