Helium is an American Indie Rock band who rose to fame via their album, The Dirt of Luck.

Helium was formed in 1989 by, "Mary Lou Lord", "Jason Hatfield", "Shawn King Devlin" and "Brian Dunton". Shawn and Brian were members oof Dumptruck. "Mary Timony" was added in the line up. The group was orinally called "Chupa". When Jason left the band, the bands name was changed to Helium. In 1993, their first single, "The American Jean" was released. Their first EP, "Pirate Prude" was issued in 1994. After the released of the said EP, Brain left the group and was replaced by, "Ash Bowie". Their first studio album, The Dirt of Luck was releeased in 1995 under Matador Records. Their next album, The Magic City was issued in 1997. After the released of the said album, the band was disbanded. Most of the members concentrate on their solo career and other crafts.
