Grandmaster Flash is an American Hip-Hop artist. He is one of the pioneers of hip-hop DJing, cutting, and mixing. He formed a group called, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five. He also released numerous albums like, Ba-Dop-Boom-Bang.

Grandmaster Flash or "Joseph "Biggie Grand" in real life was born on January 1, 1958 in Bridgetown, Barbados. Grandmaster family migrated in Bronx, United States. In his teenage years, he began spinning records, performing live at area dances and block parties. At the age of 19, he took up electronics at Techincal School. In the late 70's, Grandmaster formed his own group called "Grandmaster Flash and The 3 MC's" with "Keith Wiggins", "Melle Me" and "Kid Creole". Two other rappers briefly joined, but they were replaced by "Guy Todd Williams" and "Eddie Morris". They changed their name to, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five.
They signed a recording contract under Enjoy Records in 1979 and released the single, "Supperapin". After the released, they signed a recording contract under Sugar Hill Records, which produced several singles. They split up in 1982 where Grandmaster decided to pursue his solo career. He released numerous solo albums like, The Message in 1982, Greatest Messages in 1984, They Said It Couldn't Be Done in 1985, The Source in 1986, Ba-Dop-Boom-Bang in 1987, and On The Strength in 1988. In 1988, Grandmaster reformed the group for a charity concert.
