Gorillaz is a virtual band created by Damon Albarn from the band Blur and Jamie Hewlett, creator of the comic book Tank Girl.

Gorillaz is a virtual band created through the brainchild of Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett. They were conceived as the first virtual hip-hop group after releasing their first song "Ghost Train" which was included in their single "Rock the House". On 2000, they released their first EP "Tomorrow Comes Today" which was warmly received by music lovers around the world where, Gorillaz was born.

Officially on August 21, 2001, the group released their debut full-length album entitled "Gorillaz" where it became a smash hit putting Gorillaz in the worldwide limelight.

The band released Demon Days on December 6, 2005 as their third studio album producing four singles: "Feel Good Inc.", "DARE", "Dirty Harry", and "Kids with Guns"/"El Mañana".
The album received numerous awards including a Grammy for best pop collaborations with vocals for "Feel Good Inc." And was certified double platinum in US and 5 times platinum in the UK.

- Gorillaz are in The Guinness Book of World Records for being the most successful virtual band in the world.
- Gorillaz made their first live performance, shedding their cartoon aliases for the first time, at the Manchester Opera House in England from November 1st-5th, 2005.
- Gorillaz have their own autobiography, entitled "Rise of the Ogre," which was released on October 26th, 2006 in the United Kingdom and on November 2nd, 2006 in the United States.
