Good Charlotte started on 1996. The band originated from Waldorf, Maryland. The band is lead by the identical brothers Benji and Joel Madden. Other members are their friends Billy Martin, Paul Thomas, and Dean Butterworth on percussions. On 2003, the band added Chris Wilson, who was introduced to the band from friends in the band The Used, as a permanent drummer

The band got their name on the book Good Charlotte: The Girls Of Good Day Orphanage by Carol Beach York. Their popular album The Young and The Hopeless was a huge success. Popular songs like Lifestyles of the Rich and the Famous, The Anthem and Girls and Boys were included in the album which was launched in 2002.
