About

Gnarls Barkley is a collaboration between Danger Mouse (Brian Burton), a Maryland-based DJ and producer, and Cee-lo (Thomas Callaway), an Atlanta-based rapper / singer. Although they are popular for their first single and hit song, Crazy, they have come together previously to release a song titled What You Sittin' On? which is available under a Creative Commons license.

Cee-lo, prior to becoming one-half of Gnarls Barkley, was a member of Goodie Mob. He also had a solo career, releasing singles like Closet Freak in 2002 and I'll Be Around in 2003. Aside from being a singer, rapper, songwriter, and producer. And as an artist, Cee-lo has also delved into drawing, dancing, and fashion.

Danger Mouse is a producer / DJ, most popular for remixing The Beatles' self-titled album (more popularly known as The White Album) and Jay-Z's The Black Album, to come up with The Grey Album. Aside from this, he has also received a Grammy nomination for Producer of the Year for the second Gorillaz album.

Burton and Callaway first met in 2003 while Burton was on tour. In that tour, Callaway happened to be the DJ. They came together, and their first single was presented to Downtown Records by Burton's manager and was subsequently released under that label.

Gnarls Barkley performed at the MTV Movie Awards on June 8, 2006 along with Christina Aguilera, AFI, and Wolfmother.
