Girls Aloud is a British girl group who rose to fame via their hit single "Sound of The Underground".

About
Girls Aloud was created through a talent show on TV entitled Popstars: The Rivals in 2002. The group consisted of Cheryl Cole, Nadine Coyle, Sarah Harding, Nicola Roberts and Kimberly Walsh. Their first single, "Sound of the Underground" held the record for the shortest time between forming and reaching number one in the UK Charts. The said single was a certified Platinum.
A year after, they released their first album, Sound of The Underground which was in 2003 and it instantly debuted #2 in the UK Charts. The album sold more than 313,000 copies and was a certified Platinum. They released a follow up album the following year and called it What Will The Neighbors Say? was released in 2004 and featured their number one single, "I'll Stand By You". The album also landed the #2 spot in the UK Charts and was a certified Platinum.
Chemistry was the group's third album and was released in 2005. It peaked at #11 in the UK Charts and was once again certified Platinum; outselling their first album.
In 2006, the all female group released The Sound of Girls Aloud, their first ever compilation which debuted #1 on the UK Album Charts, the groups first ever chart topping album. It sold more than 84,000 copies on its first week alone! It also featured their hit single, "Something Kinda Oooh" which peaked #3 in the UK Single Chart and "I Think We're Alone Now" which landed the #4 spot on the UK Singles Chart. The album was a certified 3x Platinum. Their fourth album is still to be released in November 2007.

- Girls Aloud recorded a six-part fly on the wall documentary series for E4 entitled Girls Aloud: Off the Record, which started its run on April 11, 2006. The series was filmed during the "Chemistry" era, and focused on the band doing promotion for it, including shooting the video for "Biology" as well as the lead up and aftermath for the release of "Whole Lotta History".
