About
Gary Barlow was born on the 20th January, 1971 in Frodsham, Cheshire, UK to parents Marge and Colin Barlow. He studied at Weaver Vale Primary School and continued his education in Frodsham High School in 1982. At 15, he entered a BBC show competition called A Song For Christmas where his first song Let's Pray For Christmas became a finalist. After getting through the competition, he was invited to West Health Studios in London to record his song. In 1990, he recorded a single in Manchester as Kurtis Rush and met Mark Owen. They formed the group Cutest Rush with the single Love Is In The Air that never went to charts. They began to seek for management and fell under the supervision of Nigel Martin-Smith and teamed them up with Jason Orange, Howard Donald and Robbie Williams. They formed the group the successful boy band, Take That. They released four albums in their active years (1992-1996) then disbanded after releasing their last album Nobody Else. A greatest hits collection was released after 10 years of resting, with only 4 members (minus Robbie Williams ).
After the group's break-up, Gary Barlow began recording as a solo artist. Open Road was released in 1997 with his single, Forever Love reaching the top spot immediately upon its release. The same goes for his album Open Road and second single Love Won't Wait which was penned by Madonna and Shep Pettibone. He was also successful in the US topping the Adult Contemporary charts with So Help Me Girl which was also a hit un the UK. In 1999, he released his follow-up album, Twelve Months, Eleven Days and performed twice in the annual Party In The Park events both in 1998 and 1999.
When his former bandmate, Robbie Williams released his hit single, Angels Gary Barlow receive little support from the radio and press that he decided to quit his singing career. He returned to composing and producing for his own company, True North Music and even worked for other artists such as Delta Goodrem, Elton John, Christina Aguilera and Donny Osmond.
In 2006, Take That was reformed without Robbie Williams due to some issues about their contract with the record label. They have a pending album that has to be released based on their contract or else they will pay fees to the record label. Beautiful World was released on November 30, 2006 where the single Patience was again, a number 1 hit making it the group's 9th number 1.
Gary Barlow is married to former dancer of Take That, Dawn Andrews and they have two children namely, Daniel (2000) and Emily (2002).
