Gang Starr is one of the popular hip-hop band from New York. Their biggest selling albums are Step In The Arena and Daily Operation which made the group famous in the rap industry.

About
Gang Starr started in Brooklyn, New York on 1987. This act is composed of DJ Premier and MC Guru. In 1989, the duo released their debut album, No More Mr. Nice Guy, a jazz and hip-hop album. Their debut didn't get much attention from the media. After two years of brain storm, they came back with a fresh new look. In 1991, Step In The Arena was issued. It is the duo's greatest achievement in their career. Premier became a well-known producer and DJ. Guru also got his share of the fame. His compositions became a demand. Gang Starr did not change their fashion sense.
In 1994, Hard To Earn was released. Followed by Moment Of Truth four years later. In 1999, Full Clip hit stands. The single "You Know My Steez" became a big hit proving to their fans that they did not lose their touch. They released a best-of collection album. They remained busy with solo projects. Premier continued producing for other artists.

Gang Starr is one of the original rap group in the industry. They belong to the golden age of hip-hop. Although MC Guru is not the best rapper his lyrics make up for his weakness.
