Galactic

Galactic is a Funk and American Jazz Group formed in New Orleans, Louisiana. They were originally an eight-piece group. The band has developed a unique sound because of their influences, including Hip-Hop, Go-Go, Electronic, World Music, Latin Music, Rock, Blues and Jazz. The band has released a handful of albums including their latest album, From The Corner To The Block.

Galactic was formed in 1994 by "Chris Lane" and "Rob Gowen" on guitar with "Jeff Raines" on guitar, "Robert Mercurio" on bass, "Stanton Moore" on drum, "Ben Ellman" on saxophone, and "Rich Vogel" on organ. Later they add "Theryl DeClouet" on vocals. The story of the band stretches back to lifelong friends Jeff and Robert. The two grew up playing together in high school bands around Washington D.C. area. Both of them moved to New Orleans to attend college at Tulane University. There they teamed up with New Orleans drummer Stanton. From there they formed the band Galactic and recruited some of the members.

Their first LP, Coolin' Off was issued on 1996. Two years later, their full-length debut album Crazyhorse Mongoose was released. Since that time, the band has released a handful of albums such as, Late For The Future in 2000 and Ruckus in 2003. Their latest album, From The Corner To The Block was released last August 2007.
