[edit] About
Foxy Brown (Inga Marchand) was born September 6, 1979 in Brooklyn, New York. In her childhood, Brown was interested in blaxploitation films. She and her friend Lil' Kim would imagine the life under the limelight. They would sit up late nights and battle each other, and planned to take over rap together.
This was foxy's destiny and she proved it, battling Notorious B.I.G and Shyheim from Wu-tang clan. In 1994, at age 14 Foxy Brown won a talent contest. She rapped LL Cool J's "I Shot Ya" and producer, Mr. Smith offered her a contract. Later, Jay-Z invited her to rap "Ain't No Nigga" and became his mentor. Brown was later on featured on Toni Braxton's "You're Makin' Me High" remix, Case's "Touch Me, Tease Me", Silk's "Hooked On You" remix, and Total's "No One Else".
Def Jam Records signed in Foxy Brown and released Ill Na Na in 1996. It featured Blackstreet, Method Man and Kid Capri and was produced by the Trackmasters, Mobb Deep, Suga Bear and China. Reaching at #7 on the Billboard charts. It sold over 1.5 million copies. Even before she released her debut album her name was already well-known and her one of a kind sexy raspy voice made her unique.
In 1997, Foxy joined The Firm, a group of AZ rappers. They released The Firm: The Album under Aftermath Record. The following year, Foxy's sophomore album, Chyna Doll was issued. An album that talks about men and fashion. It featured Total, Eightball, Juvenile and Jigga Man. It sold more than 800,000 copies.
