About

Released in October 01, 1996 under Atlantic/Wea, this 36-minute album proves to be another gem in the power pop music scene. This album proves that the band is not only great musicians but also good writers as well. The first album of Fountains of Wayne showcases a kind of writing that is honest and unpretentious, straight to the point and conversational.

This is the kind of album in which all tracks are overall likeable, unlike some other albums that only one song sounds good while the others aren't.

Though influenced by the music of the past, this album manages not to be extremely retro. The single Radiation Vibe and Sink To The Bottom receieved a massive amount of airtime even if the album itself was not a sure-fire hit.

Reviews

  • Every song is good in this album and no song is put in it just to fill out the whole album. Their conversational style sets them apart from all other power pop groups. The lyrics are honest and music fans can definitely relate to what they are telling.

This is their first album and should be given recognition even if it did not include tracks that received massive airtime.
