About
Early Life
Floetry is made up of Marsha Ambrosius and Natalie Stewart. Both shared a passion for basketball and music. Through the sweaty sport, Ambrosius and Stewart met. They also had differences although they loved music, Ambrosius was into reggae while Stewart surrounded herself with the sounds of soul and funk. Ambrosius studied at Brits Performing Arts School and developed her voice while Stewart was juggling acting and taking up roles behind the scenes like directing.
When college came, Ambrosius had a basketball scholarship at Georgia Tech University but bailed out due to her injury. Stewart attended Middlesex University but transferred to North London University. Although they were far away, both took time to keep in touch. Stewart joined an all girl group named 3 Plus 1 but broke up. It was then Floetry was taken seriously.
Early Career
Ambrosius and Stewart started writing songs and played gigs all around London. In 2000, the duo moved to America where opportunities were bigger. It was there, they met Julius Erving III. He became their manager and planned out a recording for them with DJ Jazzy Jeff. That moment, Floetry became a reality. In 2002, they signed in with Dream Works and worked on their self-titled debut album which was released in 2002. Three years later, Flo’Ology was issued. The album instantly entered in the Top 10.
