Five For Fighting has only one primary member, John Ondrasik. John Ondrasik was born in San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles. When he was just two years old he was already into music. His mother, a piano teacher, taught him how to play the piano. At the age of 13 years old, he taught himself how to play the guitar and sooner of later he started to write music. Ondrasik also had vocal lessons in opera.
In 1997, he named his one man band, Five For Fighting. He released his debut album, Message For Albert, under Capitol Records. Three years later Five for Fighting released, America Town, under Columbia Records. The track "Superman" peaked the Billboard Hot 100 at #14 and America Town went platinum. In 2004, The Battle For Everything was released. The single, "100 Years" crowned the World Adult Top 40 at #1. "100 Years" was used in shows such as Smallville, Clubhouse, JAG and Scrubs. In 2006, Two Lights was released under Columbia Records. The songs in this album focuses on love, morality, war and family.
