Early Life
Hip-hop group Field Mob originated in Albany, Georgia. The name is from the field they grew up in Georgia. Kalaga (aka Shawn Jay) and Boondox (aka Smoke) met during high school. The two had a rap battle and decided to become partners.
Early Career
Field Mob got their first record deal with a small independent label and released their debut single. The track reached MCA who saw potential in them and offered them a deal. The duo released their debut album, 613: Ashy To Classy, in 2000. The album had great production and impressive lyrics. In 2002, they released their sophomore album, From Tha Roota To Tha Toota followed by their 2006 album Light Poles And Pine Trees under Geffen Records.
