About
Born Leslie Feist on February 13, 1976 in Amherst, Nova Scotia, Canada and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan. Inspired by a punk band Placebo (not to be mistaken for the UK based rock band with the same name). Feist started to focus on making her music that she damaged her voice forcing her to take a hiatus.
By 1998, she moved to Toronto where she spent the next six months recording, using a guitar in replacement of her voice. Through that, she became a guitarist for the Canadian indie rock band, By Divine Right.
In between her tours with By Divine Right she managed to record her debut album which was released on September 1999. By the time she released her sophomore effort, she joined another indie rock band, Broken Social Scene. You Forgot It in People (recorded with Broken Social Scene in 2002) was highly successful, winning the Alternative Album of the Year at the Juno Awards.
Feist's second solo album Let It Die was another success. It was hailed as Canada's best pop album of 2004. She continued to release solo albums and with Broken Social Scene.

Trivia
- Feist has collaborated with Apostle of Hustle, Chilly Gonzales, By Divine Right and Peaches.
- The title of her hit song, Mushaboom, is not just a made-up gibberish word. Rather, it refers to Mushaboom Harbor, a tranquil seaside town in Feist's native Nova Scotia.
- Sloan's song The Other Man from their album Pretty Together was written by Chris Murphy based on his relationship with Feist.
