About

Eve was born on November 10, 1978 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In her teen years she had a rap duo called EDGP pronounced as "Egypt". They performed at club gigs. When they broke up Eve gave herself the title Eve of Destruction.

There was a period in her life when she had a job as a stripper. Good fate was on her side, through connections Eve got a meeting with Dr. Dre.. He signed her on his new record label, Aftermath and gave her a one-year contract. While her album was in progress Eve's contract expired. Fortunately, she bumped in with DMX, a new rising star, while promoting his debut album, Dark And Hell with DMX on her back, Eve's track "What Ya Want" became a hit and climbed to the top of the charts in 1999. Her debut album Ruff Ryders' First Lady was #1 in the U.S. selling 1.8 million copies. Eve also worked with Missy Elliott on her hit "Hot Boyz". In 2001, her second album, Scorpion, was released.

Eve is not only a rapper, she also knows how to act. She appeared in numerous movies such as Triple X and Barbershop. In 2002, she released her third album, Eve-Olution. The single "Gangsta Lovin'" featuring Alicia Keys was #2 on the pop and R&B charts and "Satisfaction" was nominated for a Grammy. In 2006, Here I am, her fourth album was released. She also has a sitcom with UPN network titled Shelly.
