[edit] About
En Vogue was formed in Oakland, California in 1988. They are a female vocal quartet, conceived and put together by Denzil Foster and Thomas Mc Elroy.
Their story began when both of them studied various girl groups; they chose to look for a female R&B/Soul group heritage with Hip-Hop swing rhythms. They held an auditions and found former Miss Black California, Cindy Herron, Maxine Jones, Dawn Robinson, and Terry Ellis. They were originally called For You before shifting to Vogue and end into En Vogue.
The group released their first album Born To Sing in 1990. Their first single, Hold On was a smash hit. Their follow up album, Funky Divas received good reviews from music critics.
Dawn left the group while still recording their third album, she was replaced by Amanda Cole. However, Amanda left the group in 2003 to pursue a solo career. The group's smash hit single, Hold On was awarded single of the year by Billboard Music Award. Follow up albums and compilations are released thereafter.
