The album was released on March 23, 1983 by Warner Bros. Records. The album chartered at #9 in the Billboard 200 Albums Chart. It features the hit singles, "Gimme All Your Lovin" which chartered at #2 in the US Mainstream Rock Chart, "Got Me Under Pressure" #18 at the US Mainstream Rock Chart, "Sharp Dressed Man" which landed at #8 on The Billboard Hot 100 Charts and "Legs" #8 at The Billboard Hot 100 Charts and #6 on The US Mainstream Rock Chart.

In 1989, it was ranked #39 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 100 greatest albums of the 1980s.
