Eels is an American Rock Band formed by the popular singer, E. They rose to fame via their debut album, Beautiful Freak.

Eels was formed by "Mark Oliver Everett" or known as E. E was born on April 9, 1963 in Virginia. He became interested in music in his early age. At the age of 6, he began playing drums. He even released a little-known recording, Bad Dude in Love in 1985. He released an album, A Man Called E in 1992.
In 1993, E collaborated with drummer "Jonathan "Butch" Norton. They released an album, Broken Toy Shop. Jonathan and E met "Tommy Walter" and decided to form the band called, Eels. They signed a recording contract under DreamWorks Records and released their debut album, Beautiful Freak in 1996. The album spawned a sizable MTV/Alternative radio hit with "Novocaine For The Soul", as its promo clip received three MTV Video Music Awards nomination in 1997. The single was chartered at #1 on the US Modern Rock Charts. The group became popular in England.
In September 1997, Tommy quit the band and replaced by "Adam Siegel", formerly member of Infectious Grooves. They released their second album, Electro-Shock Blues in 1998. In 2000, their next album, Daisies of the Galaxy was released. It features the single, "Mr. E's Beautiful Blues". In 2001, the next album, Souljacker was released in 2001. The album issued the single, "That's Not Really Funny". It was used as the theme song for the BBC Comedy Series Monkey Dust.
The album, Shootenanny! was released in 2003. It spawned one single; "Saturday Morning" was issued. Jonathan left the band after the released of their album for monetary reason. He was replaced by "Puddin". Their next album, Blinking Lights and Other Revelations was released on April 2005.
