Eddie Fisher is a Traditional Pop Star who rose to fame via his hit album, Games That Lovers Play.

About

Eddie Fisher or "Edwin John Fisher" in real life was born on August 10, 1928 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to "Joseph Fisher" and "Kate Winokur". At an early age, Eddie started joining amateur contest, which he usually won. He was a member of Arthur Godfrey's Talent Scouts, a popular radio show that moved to television.


In 1946, he joined the bands of "Buddy Morrow" and "Charlie Ventura". After he performed on Eddie Cantor's radio program, he caught the attention of the listeners and gained a nationwide exposure. Eddie signed a recording contract under RCA Victor.


In 1951, Eddie was drafter into the U.S. Army and sent to Texas for basic training. From 1952-1953, he was the official vocal soloist for The United States Army Band. He was also a tenor section member in the United States Army Band Chorus.


After he was discharged from the army, he became popular in top nightclubs. Eddo was given his own fifteen-minute TV show called "Coke Time", sponsored by the Coca-Cola company in 1953. He also appeared on Perry Como's show, "The Chesterfield Supper Club" and "The George Gobel Show". He also starred in a lead role in another series, "The Eddie Fisher Show" from 1957-1959.


Eddie has many hits during this period, all well remembered, like "I Need You Now", "Dungaree Doll", "I'm Walking Behind You", "Heart", "Games That Lovers Play" and "Somebody Like You". Eddie has also released several hit albums like, Fiddler on The Roof, Games That Lovers Play which became his best selling album, You Ain't Heard Nothin' Yet. With his melodious tenor voice, Eddie became one of the most popular singers in the 50's.
