[edit] About
Duncan Scott Sheik was born on November 18, 1969 in Montclair New Jersey but spent mostly of his growing years with his grandparents. His grandmother is actually the biggest influence to him when it comes to music. A piano graduate of the Julliard School, his grandmother encouraged him and taught him to play the piano which led to the development of his musical abilities.
At age 12, he joined a band of high school guys called “Slightly Off” and went to boarding in 9th and 10th grade. In 1992, he then graduated from Brown University where he was also in a band called “Liz and Lisa”. After several attempts of selling his songs, he finally got the attention of Atlantic Record’s executives. His first album was released that includes the song Barely Breathing which remained in the US charts for 55 weeks.
