About
R&B group Dru Hill got it's name from Druid Hill Park Comples a historic landmark in Baltimore, USA, where the four members grew up. In the mid 90's, they met Hiriam Hicks from Island Records who also managed Boyz II Men and signed them on the spot. He wanted the group to record the song "Tell Me" for the film Eddie. The members of the group were Jazz, Nokio (January 21, 1979), Woody and Sisqo (November 9, 1978). They released their self-titled album which sounded mature and had the mix of jazz and R&B flavor. Keith Sweat, Stanley Brown and Darryl Simmons produced the album and Nokio co-wrote the songs.
In the late 90's, Sisqo and Jazz played a big part in the group and played keyboards, bass and trumpet in between. They also had six consecutive #1 hit in the R&B charts. In 1998, they released their sophomore album, Enter The Dru. It climbed up to #2 on the Billboard 200 album chart. The single "How Deep Is Your Love" peaked at #3 and "These Are The Times" peaked at #4.
In 1999, they appeared on Will Smith's single "Wild Wild West" and built the Dru World Order production company. In their success they also had seperate projects, Sisqo was working with Def Jam on his debut album, Unleash The Dragon. In 2002, the rappers reunited to record Dru World Order.
